Delivering an infrastructure solution
After delivering a tactical piece of work, Eliga assisted in the delivery of a pension portal. Furthermore, we worked with various streams across global teams to build, test and deliver a new infrastructure solution journey, replacing a dated solution.
Background
Eliga has a strong track record of delivering under strict time constraints. Our highly skilled team was asked to work with various global teams to test and deliver a new infrastructure solution and journey in React. We scaled up, leveraging our deep knowledge of internal processes, governance and lifecycles to deliver on time.
The challenge
Eliga was tasked with the delivery of a strategic solution. The original platform had security vulnerabilities that needed to be addressed immediately. The pension portal and mobile app served over 600k users globally. Key journeys of the portal needed were identified using Google Analytics and a prioritised list of journeys was provided by the Product Owner. There was no QA strategy defined.

The approach
A new AWS solution was architected and delivered by Eliga, allowing cross-platform connectivity (Backbone, FMR, AWS). Other supporting services included APIGEE and Layer7.
Working with the Product Owner, we prioritised the journeys and delivered incremental value after each sprint. Additionally, we guided and coached multiple internal teams, implementing a Scrum of Scrum to aid incremental delivery across the wider programme and offshore teams. Finally, Eliga gathered requirements and standardised industry best practices for development and release pipelines across all websites, working through several continuous engagements with digital and content teams.
As the portal was an AAA-rated application, we needed to make sure it was always available. As a result, Eliga implemented an efficient and scalable Blue-Green deployment mechanism to ensure production deployments were smooth. Finally, verification testing was performed prior to stack switching.

The impact
By streamlining the development, build and deployment approach, Eliga delivered features quickly and efficiently, saving the client time and resources. We improved page load time from 10 seconds to under 3 seconds. There was high availability with no downtime during production deployments. The newly implemented streamlined CI/CD automated process helped to take features from development to production on a print basis versus a monthly or quarterly basis.
